Israel Greenwald - BS, OD, FCOVD, FAAO
Dr. Greenwald, graduate of the Pennsylvania State College of Optometry, is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (Diplomat in Binocular Vision and Perception). He is Professor Emeritus at the State University of New York, State College of Optometry and is also past president of the New York State Optometric Association and the New York State Board of Optometry. He has written a textbook on crossed eyes and lazy eye and has lectured both nationally and internationally. Dr. Greenwald specializes in muscle disorders and visually related learning problems in children. He is the optometric consultant to the Staten Island Developmental Disabilities facility.
He is also a member of the Allied Health Staff at Staten Island University Hospital. |
Frank J. Pirozzolo - BS, OD, ABO
Dr. Pirozzolo, a 1978 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Optometry. He is Past President of the Richmond County Optometric Society, the Optometric Society of the City of New York, and the New York State Optometric Association. He has been appointed by the New York State Board of Regents to the State Board of Optometry. Dr. Pirozzolo has extensive background and experience in contact lens care. He is New York State certified in low vision care for the partially sighted. He is also certified by the State of New York, Department of Education, in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease, including glaucoma. In 1999, he was appointed by Governor George Pataki to serve as a member of the College Council of the State University of New York College of Optometry. He is a member of the Allied Health Staff at Staten Island University Hospital.

Mitchell I. Horowitz - BS, OD, ABO
Dr. Horowitz is a 1991 graduate of the State University of New York, State College of Optometry and has received extensive training in contact lenses, ocular disease and vision rehabilitation. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Optometry. Dr. Horowitz is a past president of the New York State Optometric Association as well as the past president of the Optometric Societies of the City of New York, an affiliate of an American Optometric Association. He received the CIBA Vision award for excellence in contact lenses.
Dr. Horowitz is a consultant to the head trauma unit at the Seaview Rehabilitation Center, Hospital and Home. He is also a member of the Allied Health Staff at Staten Island University Hospital. He was honored as the New York State Optometrist of the Year in 2008. |
Raymond A. Pirozzolo, BS, OD
Dr. Raymond Pirozzolo is a 2009 graduate of the SUNY College of Optometry where he received his Doctor of Optometry degree. During his time as an intern, he served as a civilian doctor at the Keller Hospital at West Point Military Academy. He is also a graduate of Manhattan College. During his time as a student, he served on the Board of Trustees of the American Optometric Student Association and later as the secretary of the organization, which has over 5,000 members nationwide. He is a recipient of the Morton I. Kimmelman Award for Student Leadership in Optometry. In 2013 he was named Young Optometrist of the Year by the New York State Optometric Association.
Dr. Pirozzolo is currently the President-Elect of the New York State Optometric Society and will take office as president in 2019. He is also a member of the American Optometric Association and serves on the Membership Development Committee. In addition to volunteering for his profession Dr. Pirozzolo enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. |
Angela Tardnico, BS, OD
Angela Tardanico, O.D. graduated Cum Laude from Wagner College with a B.S. in Biology. She is a graduate of SUNY Optometry and completed a residency in primary care optometry and ocular disease at the Veteran's Hospital in New Jersey.
Dr. Tardanico is adjunct faculty at SUNY Optometry, Salus University, and Midwestern University. She is an attending at the Veteran's Hospital NJ and is the Low Vision optometrist for the Low Vision Rehabilitation program, VISOR. |
Saysha Blazier, BS, OD, FAAO
Dr. Saysha Blazier received her bachelor of science in cell and molecular biology from Bradley University and her doctor of Optometry in 2011 from Southern California College of Optometry. In 2011 she moved to Manhattan, where she completed a residency in Low vision and Ocular Disease with the SUNY College of Optometry in partnership with Lighthouse International. Dr. Blazier previously served as Director of Low Vision Services and clinical instructor at University Hospital associated with Rutgers University Medical School and has published posters and papers for research in Vision & Ophthalmology. Dr. Blazier joins us with 8 years of clinical experience managing ocular disease and low vision in both hospital and private practice settings. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and enjoys practicing full scope seeing everyone from babies to seniors!
Dr. Blazier has always been very involved in advancing the profession, serving on the board and then as president of the American Optometric Student Association. She is currently active on both state and national committees and was honored as young optometrist of the year for the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians in 2015 as well as the Presidential Special Recognition award in 2018. |
Dr. Blazier resides on Staten Island and in her free time loves spending time with her husband, two small children and dog.
Mauro Vescovi, Licensed Opthalmic Dispenser
Mauro Vescovi, is New York State Licensed in Ophthalmic Dispensing. He is also certified by the American Board of Opticianry.
Mr. Vescovi received his Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Staten Island. He is well trained in his field, having 18 years of experience at South Shore Eyecare Associates. |
Nancy Cevetello, Licensed Opthalmic Dispenser
Joanna Bettini, Licensed Ophthalmic Dispenser
Joanna Bettini received an Associate Degree with honors in Ophthalmic Dispensing from New York City College of Technology in 2011. Prior to graduation, Ms. Bettini received the New York State Society of Opticians Student Scholarship - presented to the student who is preparing for a career in ophthalmic dispensing.
Ms. Bettini is a New York State licensed ophthalmic dispenser and contact lens fitter. She is nationally certified by the American Board of Opticianry and the National Contact Lens Examiners. |
