What is Presbyopia management?
Presbyopia, known as age-related blurry near vision, is a common and progressive eye condition that reduces the eye’s ability to focus on near objects. This condition begins between the ages of 40-45. In a non-presbyopic eye, the clear lens behind the iris can change shape and focus light to the retina, making it easier to see things up close. In a presbyopic eye, the clear lens hardens and does not change shape as easily, making it difficult to focus on near objects.
Presbyopia current treatments include reading glasses, glasses with a reading add built in, or specialty contact lenses.
Vuity is a first of it's kind, FDA approved eye drop to ease the symptoms of presbyopia. Though not covered by insurances, this drop has been shown to offer some near vision freedom for individuals between 40 and 60 years old.
